Project Junior Give Back

Project Junior Give Back is your opportunity to create and lead a service project that benefits a community defined by you.  TCU has committed itself to being a world class, values centered university that educates individuals to think and act as ethical leaders and responsible citizens in the global community.  Your challenge is to develop a project that will impact your community through the implementation of a specific project, based on an identified need.  Be creative; be resourceful; and take this as an invitation to make a difference.

"Every day I felt as if we were moving closer and closer to changing the lives of the kids we were working with. I think I speak for all the mentors when I say that working with these kids was definitely the highlights of our spring semester." - Jamarri Aikins

A committee of faculty, staff, and students will review your application and invite selected applicants to interview. Once the interview process is complete, the committee will choose up to four winners to receive seed money (totaling $1000) and the necessary resources to make their community project a reality. The money received by each winner will be allocated to obtain resources and purchase the necessary materials for their Give Back project. The Junior Transitions team will provide the staff and support for implementing the winners’ projects.

"These widows have given the ultimate sacrifice, and they deserve the greatest respect, I want to be a part of honoring their strength, resilience and their hope for the future."-Heather Brown

The winners of Project Junior Give Back will be required to begin their project in January 2010 and complete it by May 2010. Each winner will document their project through journal entries, photographs, and two meetings with the Junior Transitions Team throughout the spring semester. The winners are not limited to the seed money provided by the Junior Transitions Team, but will need to creatively seek aid for any needs beyond the competition earnings.

"I felt a great sense of joy seeing 60 4th grade students dancing and moving in new and creative ways enjoying something that I feel passionate about"- Summer McGowan

Please complete the Junior Give Back application and submit it no later than Saturday, October 31st. All applicants considered for an interview will be notified by November 6th.
